My Third Trip to Bangkok, Thailand
This is my third trip to Thailand. Six years ago, I traveled here for just under a month and met my Thai friends. Two years after that, I went to see Songkran and ended up on a forced(?) sudden trip to Kanchanaburi with them. All my fond memories of Thailand are entirely thanks to my friends. I even thought about learning the language, but I failed because I'm not smart enough. It really is quite difficult. Whenever I search to learn more about the country, stories about Songkran always come up, so I really wanted to experience it properly this time. Plus, I'm planning to give remote working from abroad another try, after failing at it last week.
I was originally going to just show up, say "Surprise~" and contact my friends after arriving, but I figured I should bring gifts. When I sent them a LINE message, they all said they didn't have time. After a flurry of Thai went back and forth on the messenger, they told me to just come over. With the gifts, of course...
My company finishes a bit early on Fridays, so to head straight out without taking time off, I bought a ticket for the AREX Express Train that goes directly from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport. I bought it because it's cheaper than the airport bus and guarantees you'll arrive on time, but unlike the bus, it's too far from the airline check-in counters. So, I just went to Seoul Station in the morning, bought my ticket, checked my bags, and finished checking in for my flight. Once I arrive at the airport, I can just head straight in. Just last week I thought I was going to miss my flight, but this time I was even able to pick up my duty-free items and board with plenty of time to spare. Now that I know this method gives me plenty of time for flights up to 8:00 PM, I should try to travel on weekends as much as possible.
