Aewol 7 Days in Jeju: Great Vibe, Bad Brunch
I decided to spend a day traveling around Jeju with a close older friend and his family. I picked them up, and we started our day with brunch, heading over to Aewol, which is known as the trendiest spot in Jeju right now.
Tucked among regular houses, you'll find a building with a well-kept, though not overly flashy, yard. Out front, a really old vintage car stands guard. It perfectly captures the exact vibe people imagine when they think of Aewol.
Once inside, I couldn't quite pinpoint the exact theme, but there's a mix of antique touches and a raw, exposed framework from its days as a warehouse. There are also a lot of plants, giving it a unique atmosphere. It might look a bit cluttered at first glance, but since it's Jeju, this exotic feel somehow works.
The prices for brunch and drinks are slightly on the higher side, but mostly average. We ordered the one-plate brunch and the brown sugar brown cheese toast. Everyone just picked whatever coffee they liked.
The food was really disappointing. For a place calling itself a brunch cafe, the brunch was terrible. I definitely didn't expect cheap Vienna sausages, and honestly, it all looked like store-bought food that was just heated up and served. For a spot gaining popularity in such a famous area, the food is subpar. You're much better off just grabbing a cup of coffee, taking some photos, and enjoying the atmosphere.
I wouldn't highly recommend this place. It's the kind of spot where you should just order the cheapest coffee, snap a few moody photos, take a quick rest, and move on. I especially do not recommend eating a meal here, no matter where you're visiting from.
