Cafe Palgil, Seogwipo: A Quiet Ocean View Cafe
Now that we had cured our hangovers, we needed a place to chat in the sunshine, so we headed past Jungmun to Haye-dong. Since the houses in Haye-dong sit on a cliff, there are surprisingly many good cafes here. I took my friends to the best one among them, Cafe Palgil, and they immediately showered me with compliments. You can easily see why just by looking at the photos below.
The real charm of Palgil isn't the interior, but the view through the windows. The coffee is decent, of course, but it doesn't leave as strong of an impression as the scenery.
It's so nice to just sit there, wordlessly staring out at the ocean and spacing out. Since there isn't much traffic in Haye-dong, the village itself is very quiet. It's the kind of place where you can regain your peace of mind and recharge when you're feeling down or exhausted. Of course, you might also run into excited people like us who ignore all that and just enthusiastically take photos, so I'll leave that up to your luck.
The first-floor space is beautiful too, but personally, I recommend taking photos outside on the second floor.
Looking at the surrounding buildings, you can see a cluster of exposed concrete houses built in a uniform pattern. I'm not sure if they're townhouses, but I kept thinking how nice it would be to own one. Since I can't buy one right now, my alternative is to enjoy the view with an Einspänner or a glass of beer at Palgil.
