Wandering around San Diego, my energy eventually bottomed out and my legs started shaking. Blaming my out-of-shape body—perhaps I pushed myself too hard walking around, just like when I was browsing stores like Best Buy and Ross—I desperately looked for a place to sit. I pulled up Google Maps, spotted a Mostra Coffee branch in a shopping center on Carmel Mountain Rd, and walked right in. Even though it's a franchise (which I only realized later), a rich coffee aroma hit me as soon as I entered. The large lettering on the white walls and the busy counter immediately caught my eye. I was a bit worried about my English, but the staff member was incredibly kind and spoke slowly for me, which left a great impression.You usually expect franchise cafes to be loud and chaotic, but the atmosphere here was surprisingly calm. At the long wooden table in the center of the room, people were sitting across from one another, quietly typing away on their laptops.I grabbed a seat, and my drink soon came out. It has quite a long name: the Hot Bibingka Creme Brulee Latte. The top of the drink had a crispy, torched sugar coating that looked absolutely delicious. I took a sip and tasted a sweet vanilla-like flavor; it went down incredibly smoothly. The whole cafe had a sweet scent to it, and I think it was coming from this coffee.I ordered a large size, so the cup was pretty heavy. The label on the side of the cup had the exact name of the drink printed on it. It's a little on the pricey side, but considering the excellent coffee and the relaxing vibe of the shop, it feels quite reasonable. Or maybe it just tasted better because the atmosphere was so nice.Looking at the display shelves and merch filling up one side of the wall, it seems like a brand that really pays attention to detail. I'm no expert, but the coffee was definitely smooth and suited my taste perfectly. At the next table, an older gentleman was quietly reading something on his tablet. It’s a peaceful space where everyone is focused on their own thing, without anyone talking loudly.If you're looking for a quiet place to study or work on your laptop near Carmel Mountain in San Diego, I highly recommend visiting this location. After finishing my drink, I stepped outside and took one last look at the store sign. If I ever find myself in the area again, I'll probably drop by for another rest.
