Spontaneous Trip to Jeju Island, South Korea
I mean, you're supposed to invite someone before you leave, not call them to come over after you're already there. But of course, I still went. Maybe it was the excitement of a spontaneous getaway, but the scenery on the way there looked incredibly beautiful.
I rushed over to Jeju and we ended up having pizza for dinner. They could have at least fed me something special... Pizza is everywhere in Seoul, after all. When I woke up the next morning, the weather was absolutely perfect. While waiting for my coffee at Starbucks, I took a quick look at Hamdeok Beach, and my mood instantly lifted. I'd honestly pay good money to live somewhere with a view like this every day.
On the way over to Jungmun (a popular tourist area in the south), we stopped near some company's property, and the landscape was stunning. Aside from the hint that we were near Bulgeun Oreum (a volcanic cone), I had no idea where we were since I was asleep in the backseat until they told me to get out. I just stepped out of the car and went, "Wow!" in pure awe.
The very first activity we did as soon as we arrived in Jungmun was a wave-riding boat. Honestly, I forgot the exact name of it. It was way more fun and thrilling than I expected. I screamed so much that my voice got a little hoarse. A quick tip: sit on the back sides for a much more exciting ride.
After eating, we had some free time, so I went surfing. The waves were much easier to handle than in Gangneung (a coastal city on the mainland), so I actually managed to stand up and ride the whitewater about five times. People say Jungmun is one of the best places for surfing in Korea, and now I see why.
