Yeouido Burgers: Brooklyn The Burger Joint
If you search for Brooklyn The Burger Joint on Naver Maps right now, a whopping 11 locations pop up. There's even the Seocho branch, which is basically the original location, near my old office, so I've been to a burger house that feels even more American than the Yeouido one I'm talking about today. Even so, the reason I'm specifically highlighting it as a "Yeouido burger" is because you really don't see that many burger joints in Yeouido (the financial district in Seoul).
Anyone would look at it and assume it came straight from the US like Shake Shack, but aside from using American beef, Brooklyn The Burger Joint actually has no connection to the States. Still, the taste is incredibly American. After constantly eating typical middle-aged men's food around Gongdeok and Yeouido, I just couldn't resist when I spotted such a delicious-looking burger place.
Like most places claiming to serve handmade burgers, the prices here are steep. You won't find any cost-effectiveness, and it's priced at a level where you'd get annoyed if your order came out even a little late. But once the burger actually arrives, you find yourself briefly compromising, thinking, "Well, for this price, it makes sense."
My favorite burger here is the Brooklyn Works. I love eating it because the meat juices dripping down before you even take a bite perfectly harmonize with the crunch of the vegetables as you chew. Of course, the main flavor is the greasiness of the meat and cheese rather than the freshness of the veggies. It's enough to make me wonder, "Did I always like greasy food this much?" Still, if it's your first time visiting Brooklyn The Burger Joint, I highly recommend the Brooklyn Works. It lets you truly experience what their burgers are all about.
As I mentioned at the beginning, it's a franchise, so you'll find one in almost any popular neighborhood. Because of that, I can't say it's entirely unique, but I wanted to introduce it since it's one of the few burger joints in Yeouido, an area mostly catered to older men's tastes.
