The Old Siam Plaza: A Vintage Mall in Bangkok
After enjoying a great lunch with Mos at MBK Center and hanging out for a bit, yesterday's crew gathered together once again. Everyone looked a little tired, probably from staying out late the night before, so we got massages first (I'm leaving the massage place out of this post because it was way too painful) and then headed to The Old Siam Plaza. They took me there saying I could see what old Bangkok looked like, and it really gave off a strong Namdaemun Market (a traditional market in Seoul) vibe. Even though the exterior and interior of the building had been freshly painted, you could still feel its age.
While a tourist from far away like me was busy admiring the building, my friends' real targets were the shops displaying clothes and food. Among the various product categories, The Old Siam Plaza was mostly filled with incredibly sweet snacks and some clothing stalls. Everything looked and smelled so overwhelmingly sweet that I felt like I'd get diabetes instantly if I ate these treats all day.
If you go up to the second floor, there's a space where you can eat what you bought. Since there are restaurants up there too, I was asked if I was hungry again, even though we had just eaten lunch two hours ago. Thanks to my other Thai friends, I was already completely used to this, so I casually gestured that I was so full I might throw up. Despite that, they still went and ordered two plates of fried rice... I'm seriously so full! ㅠㅠ
